Check out Amy Lee jumping from the Brooklyn Bridge in Evanescence's new video for "What You Want." The song is Evanescence's first single from the band's upcoming self-titled third album to be released on October 11. Catch Evanescence on tour with The Pretty Reckless kicking off October 10 at the Fox Theater in Oakland.
Florence + The Machine released their second single "Shake It Out" from upcoming album Ceremonials, which will be released October 10 in the UK.
Tony Bennett collaborated with Lady Gaga in remaking show tune classic from musical Babes In Arms, "The Lady is a Tramp." The duet will appear on Bennett's forthcoming Duets II album on September 20, which will also include duets with Amy Winehouse and Mariah Carey.
Happy 28th Birthday to the late Amy Winehouse. Columbia released her final studio recording today--a duet with Tony Bennett on "Body and Soul."
"My dad ... was like, 'Oh, it's only my favorite song in the world
you're going to sing. Oh my God! Do you even know it?' and I was like,
'Of course I know it, Mitchell. I'm your daughter, of course I know
it,'" Winehouse said. "It was really exciting that he chose that song because I
do love it. It's such a beautifully written song."
Mitch Winehouse recently stated he thinks a seizure due to alcoholic detoxification caused his daughter's death.
"Everything Amy did, she did to excess," Mitch Winehouse said in an interview with Anderson Cooper. "She drank to excess and did detox to excess."
Amy Winehouse passed unexpectedly in London on July 23. All proceeds from the recording will be contributed to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which also launched today.
Coldplay singer Chris Martin recently revealed to a UK newspaper that Rihanna will be featured on the track "Princess of China" from the band's new album to be released next month.
"When the vocal happened I thought 'Wow, you sound different' but I think that's
also because [Rihanna] was singing a different song to what we are used to hearing
from her," Martin said.
I suppose "different" would be somewhat of an accurate description. Couldn't this scenario be comparable to mixing feces with chocolate? Why ruin something that's already good?
Rihanna is an artist managed by Jay-Z's company Roc Nation. It is well known that Chris Martin and Jay-Z are good friends; Martin and wife Gwenyth Paltrow even attended Beyonce and Jay-Z's very private wedding in 2008. Hmm... starting to make sense now.
Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto will be released on October 24.
Oops! She's doing it again. Britney Spears announced she will be releasing another remix album, B In The Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2, on October 11.
"Exciting news tweeps... new remix album is coming out on 10/11! Pumped for you to hear these tracks," she tweeted.
Britney's first remix album, B In The Mix, was released six years ago and included hits "Toxic," "Me Against The Music" and "I'm A Slave 4 U." The album sold a whopping 119,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Once again, both an effortless and meaningless album by Britney Spears will bless the music world.
Track listing for B In The Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2:
1. Gimme More (Kaskade Club Mix) 2. Piece Of Me (Tiƫsto Club Mix) 3. Radar (Tonal Club Remix) 4. Womanizer (Benny Benassi Extended) 5. Circus (Linus Loves Remix) 6. If U Seek Amy (U-Tern Remix) 7. 3 (Manhattan Clique Club Remix) 8. Till The World Ends (Alex Suarez Club Remix) 9. I Wanna Go (Gareth Emery Remix) 10. Criminal (Varsity Team Remix)
Emily's Army (L to R: Max Becker, Joey Armstrong, Travis Neumann, Cole Becker)
Fortunately for Green Day fans and beyond, singer Billie Joe Armstrong reproduced and passed along his wonderful musical genes.
Drummer Joey Armstrong, 16, followed in the footsteps of his old man by starting teen pop-punk band Emily's Army with brothers Cole (vocals/guitar) and Max Becker (bass), and Travis Neumann (guitar). Their debut album, Don't Be A Dick, was produced by Billie Joe and recorded in only four days at Jingletown Recordings in Oakland, CA.
New York City got a small taste of Emily's Army last year at the Bowery Electric when they opened for Green Day's side project, The Foxboro Hot Tubs. Since then, they've mainly performed locally on the west coast, but recently returned back east on their very first tour

On August 9th, Emily's Army played a show at The Stolen Sleeves Collective, which is actually a fan's basement located in Brooklyn. As happy as I was not getting mugged during my seven-block walk from the subway, I was even happier to check out a full Emily's Army set once and for all. Before the show, the band sat at their merch booth, more than willing to meet the fans that came out to see them. It turns out the Becker brothers are quite the flirts, as they immediately informed me that the purchase of their CD comes with a "free kiss" and later wrote "You're beautiful" on my CD. As adorable as they are, my adult self traded in the free kiss for a free hug instead.
During their half hour set, I was extremely impressed by how they already have grown as a band. Since Emily's Army is comprised of teenagers, they most definitely have the time to get progressively better. The band also writes their own music, an admirable trait at such a young age.
In the past year they were featured in huge music publications such as Rolling Stone, Spin, and on MTV.com. Many have wondered if this is only because of their relation to Green Day or they really can hold their own. Well, maybe it is a little of both...but does it really matter?
The lyrics from their first single "Broadcast This" clearly state: "I don't wanna listen to what's on the radio. Boring music...Depressing talk shows. It would be nice to hear something that I musically enjoy..."
After listening to this album, it did bring me back to '94--The era of Green Day's Dookie. And that's always something I "musically enjoy."
Once upon a time, Kim Kardashian woke up one morning and decided she wanted to be a singer. And with the aide of computers, fame, money and her big ass, that is what she's done--again proving that becoming a singer does not always require talent. Here is a clip of the video for her oh-so-meaningful debut single "Jam (Turn It Up)" that people will actually buy, simply because it's Kim Kardashian. We can only hope she gets it all out of her system after only one album like Paris Hilton.
Evanescence announced they will be embarking on a tour this fall in support of their new self-titled album to be released on October 11. This will be their first album since 2006's The Open Door.
MTV luckily took a break from airing Jersey Shore marathons to debut Evanescence's new single "What You Want" this week. Perfectly-pitched singer Amy Lee still continues to belt out those notes that many rock singers would fail to do.
The tour begins on October 2 with a stop in Brazil at Rock In Rio and will continue through the United States and Europe with support act Rival Sons.

The Smashing Pumpkins (a.k.a. Billy Corgan and some new musicians no one cares about) will be debuting new music from Oceania during their upcoming tour in October.
Oceania will be the band's first album since 2007's Zeitgeist and is scheduled to be released sometime early next year. Additionally, the band recently announced a reissuing of back albums over the course of three years:
2011: Gish, Siamese Dream & Pisces Iscariot
2012: Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness, The Aeroplane Flies High & Adore
2013: Machina/The Machines of God & Machina II: The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music
This is completely necessary because I'm sure Smashing Pumpkins fans just can't wait to re-buy the eight albums they already have in addition to Oceania.

About 300 of Green Day's fans were in for a treat on Thursday night. The band performed approximately 19 brand new songs at a not-so-secret gig at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesta, CA.
All cameras, recording devices and even cell phones were confiscated at the door. Green Day took the stage at 10 p.m. for a 90-minute set, opening with a new song, "Nuclear Family." Singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong claimed the song "could be better" and told the rest of the band, "let's do it again." And so they did--The second song was also "Nuclear Family." Armstrong, usually receptive to requests, told fans that the band would be playing "new shit only." The songs were so new that Armstrong read the lyrics from a piece of paper a times. Green Day later had a change of heart, as they ended the concert with hits "Welcome to Paradise," "St. Jimmy," "Minority" and more.
"Green Day performed 19 new straight-forward rock 'n roll songs," long-time fan DJ Rossstar, 29, said. "Almost every song had a 39/Smooth-esque solo. [Billie Joe's] voice sounded better than ever. So angelic."
The concert was announced Tuesday on Green Day's official website. Tickets were initially to be sold first come, first serve at the venue, but "due to an overwhelming response," the tickets were instead sold through an online pre-sale. All proceeds were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Some poor-quality audio from the show has been surfacing:
Tons of new music this week--American Idol winner Scotty McCreery debuted his first single "I Love You This Big," while runner-up Lauren Alaina conveniently also debuted her first single "Like My Mother Does." What a strange coincidence! Both artists recently signed with Mercury Nashville.
Perhaps Scotty and Lauren are what Idol need to rack in the dough again--The last huge superstar to spawn from Idol was Carrie Underwood in 2005, also a country artist.
Steve Urkel is back and better than ever--The Voice judge Cee Lo Green's new video features Jaleel White instead of himself in "Cry Baby." A recent tweet from Cee Lo indicated "he had no idea the video for 'Cry Baby' was even shot."
Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" includes singer Adam Levine shirtless throughout the entire video with a bunch of semi-nude women. Have no fear--Christina Aguilera makes a guest appearance, thus including all three Voice judges in new music this week.
Fall Out Boy singer, Patrick Stump, is releasing Soul Punk, a follow-up to his first LP, Truant Wave, according to an interview with billboard.com. The album is set to be released in October.
Soul Punk consists of an R&B vibe, completely different from the typical Fall Out Boy album.
"The challenge was finding something that I enjoy doing as much as Fall Out Boy but that has nothing to do with Fall Out Boy -- otherwise there's really no point in doing it," Stump said.
Other Fall Out Boy members have also moved on to new projects--Bassist Pete Wentz in Black Cards and guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley in The Damned Things. Fall Out Boy is currently on hiatus, but Stump expects a reunion in the future.
Recently Jay-Z and Kanye West formed a group called The Throne and debuted "Otis," which samples Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness." "Otis" is the new single on their upcoming release Watch the Throne.
"There was a back and forth about whether the name of the song would be 'Otis' or 'Otis Redding,'" Redding's daughter, Karla Redding-Andrews, told billboard.com. "And we just wanted to make sure lyrics and references in the song worked with the legacy of my father. To have two current, legendary artists use the legendary music of Otis Redding-we were quite honored."
The Throne will begin a twenty-four date tour on September 22nd, including two stops in East Rutherford, NJ. Watch The Throne will be released August 8th on iTunes.
Kelly Clarkson fans will have to wait two more months to hear new music from the Idol alumnus. The singer initially tweeted that her single will be "hitting radio in August," but an hour later wrote "Okay please do not get angry but it might be September for my single."
Clarkson's fifth album is expected to be released in the Fall.
No Doubt announced on their Twitter last night they are working with Diplo and Switch of Major Lazerto release their first album since 2001's Rock Steady.
This makes me believe it will be more of a dance album like Rock Steady. Maybe one day they will go back to their original sound of the Tragic Kingdom days.
At least the Gwen Stefani solo era is over... or so we can hope.
